BMW’s 3-series Goes Green: Cnet Reviews the New 2017 330e
BMW’s iconic 3-Series line of premium sports sedans has gone green, with the introduction of the new 330e hybrid. CNET reviewed the newest addition to the 3-Series and found it delivers a highly engaging yet economical driving experience. Click “play” in the video clip below to watch the full report.
The 330e is powered by an 87-horsepower electric motor paired with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine; together the two produce 248 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Perhaps the most impressive use of technology in the 330e is how the navigation system communicates with the drivetrain. Hybrid usage is adjusted depending on the current travel mode and eventual destination. For example, the engine saves electric power during highway driving if the final destination is in a residential area. This contributes to an EPA fuel efficiency rating of 72 mpg equivalent.
