Consumer Reports Says BMW 5-series Gets a Nice Update for 2017: Tech Improvements and Lighter Weight
BMW’s midsize luxury saloon, known as the 5 Series, received a nice mid-cycle refresh for the 2017 model year, adding new technology (in the cabin and under the hood), shedding some weight and improving engine performance to make for a more nimble driving experience. Consumer Reports has a review of the new 5 Series.
The most significant technology improvements go unnoticed until called upon – they support a suite of active safety features, including forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist and side-collision avoidance. An optional active cruise control operates from 19 to 130 mph and a Stop & Go feature eases city driving. When the drive is over, a special-order valet function enables automated parking while you watch, giving the car the ability to fit in narrow spaces.
